I'm "Only Saying..."
A broad look at everyday issues touching on or of general interest to Christians and more specifically the Pentecostal community, to address matters affecting faith, theology and praxis, towards helping us make sense of God, the world and our relationship to both.
Welcome. I’m glad you found me!
Everyone has a worldview - where a person tries to provide a coherent set of answers to situations that confront humans in the passage of their lives. While there are thousands of such world views in operation, what is generally at stake is how we understand the world that we live in.
A Christian worldview is a framework of ideas, beliefs, convictions and habits that help us make sense of God, the world, and our relationship to both. And this kind of world view matters because (1) it is the lens through which we see our world, and (2) because it helps us navigate every day life.
That does not mean that all Christian worldviews are cookie-cutter duplicates. Not likely! The 30 second word-bite views of Christians on social media will wonderfully (and sometime regrettably) prove this. Why is this? My hunch is that this diversity is because we do not share the same life path or faith experience. Nor do we all read the Bible in the same way either.
This diversity of opinion among believers is further complicated to a great degree in that every event, natural or human-made, social or political does not find easy solutions in Scripture. We are not told which political party to vote for, whether a $10 minimum wage is good, if cities should disband police or if tax dollars should build sports stadiums. You will have to figure that out yourself!
“OnlySaying.com” is my home spun, two cents worth on things like faith, scripture, theology, Pentecostalism, social issues and whatever else piques my interest. I will try to manage the risk but I doubt I will be successful.
